What is eSIM?

An eSIM is a digital SIM that eliminates the need for a physical SIM card. It uses a built-in chip within the device to do away with the hassle of insertion & removal that comes with the traditional physical SIM.

What is the process of getting an eSIM with Ncell?

The process for getting eSIM with Ncell is mentioned below:

• • Existing Ncell users - Type Citizenship number, Email ID and send SMS to 17125. (SMS is Free). SIM will be upgraded to eSIM post verification.  

• • Non Ncell users - Visit nearest Ncell Centre and choose desired tariff plan on eSIM.

How much does upgrading to eSIM cost?

Upgrading your current SIM to eSIM is free of cost.

Which handset models support eSIM?

Below are the handset models that support eSIM.

• • Latest models of iPhones => iPhone XS series, iPhone 11 series, iPhone 12 series, iPhone 13 series & iPhone 14 series.
  • Latest models of Samsung => Galaxy S21 series, Galaxy S22 series, Galaxy Z Flip series and Galaxy Z Fold series.
  • Google => Pixel 4 series, Pixel 5 series, Pixel 6 series.

How to check if my device supports eSIM?

To check, please dial *#06# from your device. If it shows EID number (Embedded Identity Document), it means the device supports eSIM.

Why should I take an eSIM instead of my current physical sim?

It will end the hassle of carrying physical SIM card.

What are calling rates/data rates for eSIM?

All rates/charges are dependent on your plan. eSIM does not have different charging.

Can I use another local operator SIM and Ncell SIM in same eSIM slot?

Yes. However only one number can be used at a time.

How many eSIM can I buy from Ncell?

You can purchase three eSIM at a time, just like physical SIM purchase.

Is it possible to convert back from eSIM to USIM?

Yes, you can convert back from eSIM to USIM with standard charges.

Do I also get bonus resources like data/voice while upgrading to eSIM?

You will not get bonus resources while upgrading to eSIM.

Can someone request eSIM upgrade or buy an eSIM on my behalf?

You can request for eSIM upgrade only if the SIM is under your name & for purchasing a new eSIM you need to visit nearest Ncell Centre with your valid ID and picture.

Will Ncell eSIM be supported abroad? How to activate?

Yes, eSIM will be supported while travelling abroad if the roaming service is activated by dialing *17129#.

Will Ncell eSIM be available for carrier locked phones imported from abroad?

No, Ncell eSIM won’t be available for carrier locked phones.

How to check if my phone is carrier unlocked?

Please follow the below steps to check if your phone carrier unlocked.

• • Go to Settings > General and tap About.
  • Under Carrier Lock, if you see a message that says, "No SIM restrictions.", it means your phone is not carrier locked and you can process for Ncell eSIM.

How to request on eSIM upgrades for corporate numbers where the numbers are owned by company?

Please follow the below steps to upgrade to eSIM if your corporate number is owned by your company.

• • Please visit nearest Ncell Centre with request letter of eSIM conversion under company letter head and eSIM change will be done or
  • Please send scanned copy of request letter to your Ncell account manager.
  • Please include ‘respective number to be changed, email address, alternate number’ in the request letter.
