In December 2016 I took my 14yr old son to Everest Base Camp, over Cho La Pass and into Gokyo Lakes. From start to finish our trip was incredible! WE were met at Kathmandu airport and taken to our hotel in the wonderful Thamel market area, the hub for trekkers to stay before and after trekking. The Hotel was very nice and the staff there looked after us wonderfully!
We met our guide for the trek at the hotel and had a briefing on trek we were embarking on. The next day we did a sightseeing day tour of some of Kathmandu's most iconic sites - our guide was fantastic!
The flight to Lukla was breathtaking, flying in around (and below) mountain peaks and once in Lukla we met our porters and started our epic 3 week trek! Our guide and porters took care of our every needs, which is a humbling experience in itself, and they became great friends with whom we shared many card games, laughs and adventures. The trek itself was stunning - the landscape, people and experiences along the way will live with us for a lifetime. We cannot wait to go back for another trek and I highly recommend The Himalaya Trekking Company for any trekking experience, they were simply fantastic!
